TRansportation / Metro Cards FAQ

Is your student's bus late or not showing up? Call the office of Pupil Transportation to file a complaint- (718) 392-8855.
  • You must have your student's OSIS number and Route number
  • OPT does not give out route information over the phone

Where can I see my child's bus route information such as bus route/pickup time and bus company information?
  • Access your students NYCSA account at this website: NYC Schools Account
  • Need to reset your password to the NYCSA account? Here is the website: Forgot Password - NYC Schools Account
  • Need your authorization code? Call the main office at 718-796-9200 and leave a message for Ms. Cecily

How do I know what time to be at the school bus stop?:
  • Go to your student's NYCSA account and click on the Transporation tab. The most current information will be displayed of the time the bus will pick up the students. We advise the parents come before the time shown..
  • All changes will show on the NYCSA tab. 
  • OPT (The Office of Pupil Transporation) does NOT let families know of changes in the schedule- It is the responsibility of the guardian to check the NYCSA Transportation tab frequently to keep up with changes

What if my student is not eligible to ride a yellow school bus? How can I apply for an exception for he/she to ride a yellow bus?

How do I know if my student qualifies for a school bus or is eligible for a Student Metro Card?
  • See this excerpt and chart from the Office of Pupil Transportation Page: "Transportation eligibility is based on a student’s grade level, walking distance between home and school, and existing accommodations based on a medical condition, housing status, or safety assessment."

Can my student receive both a Metro Card and a Yellow bus (if eligible)?
  • Students can only receive either a yellow bus OR a student Metro Card
  • Student Metro Cards will be given out in reverse grade order, starting with 8th grade. If your student would like to request a metro card, they can come to the main office with a pass from their teacher and leave their name and class. 
  • Student Metro Cards are assigned in the system to specific students.

What happens if my student loses their student Metro Card or it stops working?
  • Please have your student come to the main office with a pass to request a new student Metro Card

My student will be attending an after school program. Will they be able to take the school bus to come home?
  • There is no school bus is not available after dismissal from the regular school day. Parents must make alternate arrangements for their student.

What about a half day of school? Will my student still be able to take the bus home?
  • Yes there is school bus service available on half days of school. Students (who have been riding the yellow bus regularly during the school year)will take the yellow bus home following the half day dismissal time.
