April - May 2022
We are now approaching the tail end of the school year, with a little less than 3 months to go. Please keep in mind that it is very important that students maintain their concentration as the schoolwork will get more intense in preparation for the next grade level. It will also determine whether they are ready to move up to the next grade level. Some parents have received notification in the second report card and via a letter in the first week of February whether their child is “promotion in doubt.” The evidence of student work is important please remind your students to continuously do their best. Please check that your child is completing all their assignments, we are a team, and it takes all of us to be successful. You can help improve your child’s skills in math by using some of these strategies year-round.
Ø Talk about how many bowls or plates to put out for dinner.
Ø Fold napkins in different shapes.
Ø Measure ingredients for recipes.
Ø Give your child change to count out for small purchases or have child calculate the change.
Ø Compare prices between items, “Which one costs more?” Please check your child’s assignments daily. Adapted from: www.nwea.org
